The Safety Ratios Calculator computes this automatically once you enter monthly hours and lost-time injury counts, and lets you switch the denominator to per 100K hours, per 200K hours (OSHA convention) or per 100K workers.

TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate) is the number of OSHA-recordable incidents (fatalities, days-away cases, job-transfer/restricted-work cases, medical-treatment cases) per 200,000 hours worked — the denominator that represents 100 full-time workers over one year. Formula: (recordable incidents × 200,000) ÷ hours worked. The calculator produces TRIR alongside DART, LTIFR and Fatality Rate from the same inputs.

How is the Fatality Rate calculated?

Fatality Rate is typically expressed per 100,000 workers per year — the convention used by HSE (UK), OSHA (US), SWA (Australia) and MOM (Singapore). Formula: (fatalities ÷ average workforce) × 100,000. The Safety Ratios Calculator computes this from workforce headcount, or from total hours worked when you supply an FTE hrs/yr (with country-specific presets for UK, US, AUS, SGP, CAN, DEU, IND and JPN).

National benchmarks currently cover the United Kingdom (HSE RIDDOR), the United States (OSHA), Australia (Safe Work Australia) and Singapore (Ministry of Manpower). Sector-level benchmarks vary by country — Construction and Manufacturing are covered across most, with Agriculture and Services added for the UK. All benchmark values are sourced from public regulator filings and refreshed periodically. Selecting a sector without published data falls back to the country-wide 'All industries' rate with an explicit fallback note on the chart.
